Tibetan medicine usually does not prescribe a single herbal formula, but there are some formulated Tibetan medicines that are quite beneficial for strengthening the liver energy. These pills are not generally for sale over the counter, so you will have to see a Traditional Tibetan doctor to get these herbs. A Tibetan doctor will look into the nature of the imbalance in your entire system, with regards to your constitution, to prescribe the right herbs or herbal formulas. Some herbs like Dandelion, grapefruit and bitter melon are good for liver energy. According to traditional Tibetan medicine, everything you eat or drink is being digested by the digestive fire in the stomach. Later the stomach separates the nutrients from the impurities, the impurities are sent down to the colon and the kidneys, and the nutrients are sent to the liver where it produces blood. Therefore, caffeine and sodas do affect your liver, as it brings more pressure to the liver in producing enough blood for the whole system when you have a weak organ already. - Dr. Namgyal
