| Q: Do you have
any specific remedies for high blood pressure, and high cholesterol? I am an active
42 year old and exercise regularly, 5-7 hours a week. - Daniel, Wisconsin |
A:
According to Tibetan Medicine science, high blood pressure may be due to different
types of causes, such as heredity, kidney imbalance, heart disease or wind disorder.
Therefore, the Tibetan physician must know the main cause before prescribing an
appropriate diet and advice on behavior in order to reduce or control the blood pressure.
Occasionally nothing can be done either by doctor or
by patients. Other cases can be cured by proper diet and behavior along with natural
herbal medicine. In general, for most cases of high blood pressure and high cholesterol
the doctor advises the following:
Restriction
- Totally avoid strong tea or coffee, fatty foods, oily
food, salt, dark soy sauce
- Do not smoke, do not overtax the brain, do not go to
sleep late and do not get overweight
- Moderate your consumption of alcohol, spicy and fried
foods, canned food
- Be careful to avoid constipation and insomnia.
- Always keep a peaceful mind, regular sleep patterns,
and make up for sleep lost by getting up later the next morning
- Exercise is one of the most important physical
therapies so you should maintain this without letting it become addictive.
To provide further information you would need to
consult a Tibetan doctor or natural herbal practitioner to determine the exact nature of
your condition and to prescribe accordingly.
