Q: What can I take or do to control frequent night urination?

- Craig, Los Angeles, CA

A:
Frequent night urination has three major types of causes.  It could be:
1. A diabetes problem
2. Due to low heat of the lower body portion (particularly kidneys and bladder)
3. Habitual from childhood

First cause: You should consult a doctor and go through conventional treatment.

Second cause: Initially take care of your routine diet, beverages and behavior.
1. Food restriction: do not eat raw food, sweets, potato, sweet potato, watermelon, ice cream, pork and particularly foods which stay a long time in the refrigerator.
2. Beverage: do not drink coke, refrigerated water, ice, dark or light beer.
3. Behavior: avoid damp, do not sit directly by a cooler or fan, and do not   swim in cold water.  Always try to keep warm, whatever the season, especially during the summer season.

Third cause: Drink less beverages and go to the toilet once before bed and then if necessary during the night at a regular time.  Try to change the bad habit forever.
